AHW is known as Animal Health Worker. It is a certificate course has duration of one year. In this course we study about handling & restraining farm animals keeping the behaviour of various farm animals into consideration & discuss the implementation of preventive health care programmes, vaccination and deworming in farm animals. The course fee is between INR 40,000 to INR 80,000. The annual salary after this course is INR 2.5 lakh to INR 5 lakh per annum. Animal Health Worker Syllabus

• Identify sick animals: Observation of animals, Check body temperature, feeding, respiration etc
• Hold animals for treatment: Restraining method, casting, Selection of site, tieing
• Provide preventive care to animals as per guideline of veterinarian: Understand the symptoms of diseased animals consult veterinarian, follow the preventive care measures
• Provide basic first aid to animals: Cleaning and washing of wound, dressing of wound, apply ointments, first aid
• Assist public agencies in animal disease control: Create awareness about the disease preventive measures; promote the actions to be taken etc
• Assist in animal husbandry extension: Feed and Feed ingredients, Fodder preservation, Housing and farm structure
• Assist in disaster management: Animal Cruelty norms & laws, human animal conflict, basic disaster management
