Under the provisions of MP Niji Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam 2007, Jaypee University of Engineering & Technology, Guna was established as a private university in the State of Madhya Pradesh by Government of Madhya Pradesh gazette extra ordinary No.3 of 2010 dated April 29, 2010.In accordance with Section 2(f) of the UGC Act of 1956, the university was notified by the UGC and awarded an "A" grade by NAAC during the initial accreditation cycle in 2016.This university is funded by Jaypee Group. Previously known as Jaypee Institute of Engineering and Technology, Guna, it was founded in 2003 on the basis of a memorandum of understanding between the Government of Madhya Pradesh and Jaiprakash Sewa Sansthan, a not-for-profit trust, with the goal of becoming a Center of Excellence in Engineering and Technology in MP.

The Jaiprakash Sewa Sansthan (JSS), an educational initiative that recognizes the role of IT and emerging technologies in improving the quality of life for the people of India, has established four universities to provide engineering education. This university is one of them.As it serves backward MP districts like Shivpuri, Gwalior, Sheopur, Ashoknagar, Sagar, Rajgarh, and Vidisha, the location of JUET in Raghogarh in Guna district is well thought out.It is likely that this area, which is currently rural and has a lot of agricultural activity, will become a major industrial hub.In order to supply the region with skilled, well-trained technical labor, JUET is being developed into a major center.
