PhD in English  Admission Eligibility:
  1. For taking admission in the PhD English program, the candidate must have at least Master’s degree in English.
  2. A Masters qualification can either be Masters of English or a Master’s of Philosophy.
  3. Students who are giving final year exams are eligible to apply for the PhD English admission process.
  4. Some universities may want a practical or work experience of a few years before one can apply for admission to the PhD courses.                                                                                                 
PhD in English  Admission process:

The basic eligibility to take admission in PhD English courses is completion of the Masters level course. It could be M.A. in Arts or M.Phil. Students in the final year can also apply for the entrance examination.  Students should prepare for the entrance exams like GATE, CSIR-NET or the State Level Eligibility tests (SLETs).  SLET scores are only eligible for the state. But examination scores of GATE and CSIR-NET are valid in all Indian universities. GATE score is accepted only by some Indian universities, while CSIR-NET score is accepted by all Indian universities. The admission process for the PhD English course is straightforward.

Steps to apply for the course:
  • Complete Masters in Arts in English language or M.Phil.
  • Appear for entrance exams for the PhD if required by the university and college.
  • Qualify for the All India National Eligibility Test for Lectureship, if required by the university and college.
  • Fill up the admission forms provided by the concerned university.
  • UG and PG Degree Certificate or Provisional Degree Certificate and Work experience letter (if applicable) No Objection Certificate from previous employer (if applicable).
