Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) is an acronym for Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. BAMS is an undergraduate degree programme meant to familiarise students with Ayurvedic ideas and enable them to apply them to patient care. BAMS combines Ayurveda and contemporary medical concepts, and students are taught a mix of the two as part of the course curriculum.

Course Eligibility:
- To pursue BAMS courses in Indian colleges/ universities, aspirants should clear Class XII in Science stream with PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) subjects.
- In most cases, the minimum percentage of students require in Class XII to be eligible for BAMS course admissions is 50% to 60%. However, the minimum percentage criteria change depending on a college/ university policy.
- Some universities may also have a minimum age bar as their BAMS eligibility criteria.
Admission Process:
- Admission to BAMS is based on the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). This admission test is currently required for several medical programmes, including BAMS. After NEET, BAMS applicants would be able to get a centralised counselling invitation to choose a college based on their scores. Colleges can next undertake a personal interview round to further filter down the prospects.
- There are no specialisations available in the BAMS programme. Candidates for postgraduate programmes in Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery must select domains. Two of these programmes are M.S. (Master of Surgery) (Ayurveda) and M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) (Ayurveda).
Entrance Exams:
- NEET CURRENT_YEAR is the most widely recognised admission test for the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery programme. Some State-level examinations are also required for admission to the State Government College for BAMS. These tests have the following names:
- In the state of Kerala, KEAM CURRENT_YEAR is also a valid score BAMS Course. Students can take this admission test once they have completed the NEET exam.
- Candidates are chosen based on their overall merit. The final merit list is calculated by adding the total score received in the qualifying examination (10+2) with the score obtained in the entrance examination.
How to Apply?
- In India, BAMS admissions are made on the basis of entrance tests.
- Candidates must apply for the NEET-UG entrance test and sit for it.
- Following the release of the results, the tests’ conducting body compiles a merit list on which the counselling procedure is done.
