Joint Entrance Examination

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main CURRENT_YEAR) for admission to engineering programs may be conducted in two sessions instead of four this year. This proposal has come in the meeting of other stakeholders including National Testing Agency, Ministry of Education. However, no decision has been taken by the government to organize it twice instead of four. This proposal has been brought to start the upcoming academic session on time in IITs, general engineering colleges, universities and medical colleges.

According to sources, due to Corona, the 12th class examination has not yet been conducted under the academic session CURRENT_YEAR. In view of the delay in board examinations, it is proposed to conduct JEE Main CURRENT_YEAR exam in two sessions instead of four. Actually, on the basis of the merit of JEE Main CURRENT_YEAR, further JEE Advanced CURRENT_YEAR will also be conducted. If there are four sessions of JEE Main CURRENT_YEAR conducted then there will be delay.

Because the CBSE board’s 12th class examination is to be held in April. In such a situation, it is not possible to conduct four sessions of JEE Main this year. Apart from this, students also participate in NEET. At the same time, admissions to the undergraduate programs in central universities this year are to be done on the basis of the merit of the Joint Admission Entrance Test. Students will have to devote time for all these national entrance exams. If this does not happen, then the academic session CURRENT_YEAR will also be delayed. Hence NTA has proposed to the stakeholders that JEE Main CURRENT_YEAR be conducted in two sessions instead of four sessions as before. This will not delay the coming academic session.
