Sikkim Manipal University PhD Admission, Eligibility, Fees and Guidelines

The agreement between the government of Sikkim and the Manipal Pai Foundation established Sikkim Manipal University (SMU), formerly known as Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical, and Technological Sciences, on November 15, 1992, with the goal of providing world-class education and health care services throughout Sikkim and the country. It is the nation's first public-private partnership for healthcare and higher education. According to letter No. 9-7/96(CPP-I) dated December 9, 1998, SMU received approval from the Indian government and is recognized by the University Grants Commission in accordance with Section 2(f) of the UGC Act of 1956. The Medical Council of India (MCI), the Nursing Council of India, the Indian Association of Physiotherapy, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the Distance Education Council all approve the university's courses.

Sikkim Manipal University provides Ph. D in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Civil Engineering, or Physics. Students are encouraged to finish the course in four years, but they can also complete it in five.

Sikkim Manipal University PhD Admission Eligibility Criteria

Have a Master's degree from this university or an equivalent degree from another reputable institution or university with at least 55% marks. In the case of candidates who hold a qualifying degree from a foreign university, registration for the Ph.D. will be confirmed after the relevant university body determines equivalence. The degree should be relevant to the department to which the candidate applied for the PhD.

Sikkim Manipal University PhD Admission process

• The entrance exams will not be taken by candidates who have passed the UGC, CSIR(JRF), NET, SLET, Teacher-Fellowship, MPhil, or any other national level eligibility test.
• To be considered for the personal interview, the candidate must score at least 50% on the entrance exam.
• The personal interview will be scheduled for those applicants who were shortlisted on the entrance exam. After submitting their original certificates and paying the PhD-specific fee structure, the selected candidates will be granted provisional admission to the program.

Sikkim Manipal University PhD Admission Entrance exams

• There are two parts to the MET Ph.D entrance exam pattern.
• Part A: Research Aptitude (Research aptitude consists of sections on numerical ability, language proficiency, and logical reasoning).
• Part B: Subject-Specific (subject-specific questions contain subject-specific technical questions).

Sikkim Manipal University PhD Admission Application process

The candidate must first respond to the Ph.D announcement in the newspaper or website for Ph.D  admission. The candidate must apply online and fill out the registration form. They must also bring certified copies of certificates, mark sheets, and other documents. Candidates who are currently employed must provide a "No Objection Certificate" from their employer.

The candidate must send the application form, attested copies, and a Demand Draft for INR 1000 to the website's mailing address.
