The departments of Sciences, Languages, Life Sciences, Education, Professional Studies, and Social Sciences of Sikkim Skills University provide Ph.D. degrees. There are fifteen or more such specialities available in total. The course lasts three years and is broken up into six semesters.

Candidates must have completed a post-graduate degree in the appropriate subject at any accredited university or institute with a minimum cumulative GPA of 55% (or 50% for students in the restricted category).

Candidates who hold an M.Phil in the desired area or topic, or who have passed the UGC (JRF) Examinations, the NET, the SET, or the SELT, among other qualifications, will be permitted to sit straight for the interview without taking the TREAT. Sikkim Skill University PhD Admission Application process

• Applying online is required at the University official website.
• They must complete the form by entering their personal and academic information.
• Application fees must be paid online using a debit card, credit card, or net banking. The fees are INR 1500 for SC, ST, and PWD and INR 2500 for GEN/OBC/EWS.
• Candidates will be shortlisted for a written test administered by the appropriate department based on their performance in their qualifying degree.
• On the basis of their performance in the written test, applicants will next be asked for an interview.
