Ph.D. Music has time duration of 3 to 5 years. In this course we study about the Historical Musicology, Composition, Analysis, Music Cognition, etc. The student who wants to pursue this course should have Master’s Degree in Music with minimum 55% marks from recognized university. The admission takes place on the basis of entrance exam conducted by Sunrise University.

Those who have recently appeared in final exams can apply provisionally for this programme. The candidate who wants to pursue this course has to go through entrance exam conducted by Sunrise University. The candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR (JRF)/NET/SLET/NET JRF get relaxation from entrance exam.

Ph.D. Music Course Mode

Full Time Ph.D. Course

It is mode of course in which students attend class’s regularly in campus and attend all necessary activities of course. It is compulsory for all students to attend classes regularly in this mode.

Part Time Mode Course

In this mode of course the student does not need to attend classes regularly they can work with this course.

The students who want to pursue this course in part time mode should have No Objection Certificate (NOC). In No Objection Certificate (NOC) should have mentioned that he/she permitted to pursue studies on a part time basis.

Ph.D. Music Duration

The Full Time course has time duration of 3 to 5 years & Part Time course has time duration of 3.5 to 7 years.

• The student who wants to pursue this course has to complete and submit application form for admission in Sunrise University.
• In next step the student has to register for entrance exam.
• Then student have to appear for Entrance Exam.
• After qualifying entrance student has to go through for personal interview conducted by university.
• After giving the interview the shortlisted candidate list released by university.
• After this process candidate have to take admission by depositing course fee.

The entrance exam for admission in Ph.D. course is conducted by Sunrise University. The GATE, CEED, NET JRF & GATE entrance exams are also accepted. The students who have cleared these exams can get relaxation from entrance exams. The student has to qualify entrance test for the admission in the Ph.D. Music course.

Step 2 Booking of Slot for Supervisor

The research scholar can book slot with any of his/her preferred doctorate faculty by just clicking on the Book a slot “button.

Step 3 Sending message to selected doctorate faculty

When research scholar selects his choice doctorate faculty this message received by his/her doctorate faculty.

Step 4 Preparation of list of allocated supervisors and submission of consent form

A list of all research scholars and their allocated supervisor is prepared on the basis of eligibility criteria and availability of seats. A hard copy of consent form is submitted by research scholar. When the research scholar get consent form from doctorate faculty. The final list of research scholar & their allocated supervisor is forwarded to Head of Faculty for recommendations.

Step 5 Allotments of Supervisors

After getting approval from authorities the list of allocated supervisor is provided to research scholars before the end of coursework.
