Calcutta University is a public, collegiate university that conducts research in Kolkata, West Bengal. The first multidisciplinary, Western-style institution in Asia is Calcutta University. At the moment, Calcutta University is affiliated with 151 colleges and 21 institutes. The number of students who have passed the national eligibility test (NET) is highest at the university.
There are 19,004 students enrolled at the institution, consisting of 2,871 undergraduates, 12,353 postgraduates, and 3,780 doctoral candidates. Calcutta University is one of the best educational establishments in the nation thanks to its numerous dedicated faculty members.
The NAAC has awarded the university the grade "A" and the status of "5-star university." The University Grants Commission (UGC) has also designated Kolkata University as a center with potential for excellence in a particular field.

Calcutta University offers Ph.D. degrees in a variety of research areas. The fundamental requirement for admission to the Ph.D is a passing grade on the relevant PG degree from a reputable university, and the selection is based on the university's entrance exam.
Master's degree in the relevant fields from Calcutta University or another university that is considered to be same as prescribed. Minimum of 55% in the qualification exam. At least 50% of the marks obtained by students who belonged to reserved category (ST/SC/OBC).
At CU, admission to the Ph.D. program is determined by a written test score, followed by a research proposal and an interview. The Written Test will not be given to recipients of a Teacher Fellowship or a Scholarship from the UGC, CSIR, JRF (NET), SET, SLET, or DST (Inspire). Students who have earned their M.Phil, M.Tech., MD., ME., or M.Pharm degrees from a recognized university are also exempt from taking the university's written exam.
The exam will consist of MCQs and be worth a maximum of 50 points. Qualified candidates will be invited to an interview, which will cost 50 points. The short essay and research proposal will each earn 30 points (for the Ph. D). The written entrance exam, interview, research proposal, and short essay will form the basis of the final merit list. Admission will be confirmed upon receipt of required documentation and payment of the program fee.

Attach a photo the size of a passport. Pay the application fee of INR 100 (for Ph.D.) or INR 500 (for M.Phil.) using a SBI challan. Keep the receipt for future reference.
