Admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Delhi University in the academic session 2024-25 will be through Common University Entrance Test (CUET). For this the registration process is going to start from Wednesday. 12th pass students can register themselves in the entrance exam. Except SOL and NCweb of DU, admission in all undergraduate courses will be done through CUET 2024-25 only.

DU Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh released the admission policy for admission in the academic session 2024-25 in the press conference. He called this policy a landmark. Pro. Singh said that it is mandatory for all the candidates to appear in CUET 2024-25 for admission to undergraduate courses in DU.

Giving information about admission to undergraduate courses, he said that students will be able to appear in CUET only in those subjects who have studied in class XII. The merit will also be calculated on the basis of combination of only those subjects in which the candidate has appeared in the CUE test. No student will be harmed if the stream is changed. On this occasion, DU’s total secretary Dr. Vikas Gupta, Dean Admission Prof. Hanit Gandhi, Dean Student Welfare Prof. Pankaj Arora was present.


Presence in any one of the 33 languages ​​required

CUET 2024-25 has three sections. The first section is divided into two parts. There are 13 languages ​​in the first part and 20 languages ​​in the second. It is mandatory for the students to be present in at least one of these 33 languages. There are 27 main subjects in the second section. The third section is based on general knowledge which will be for admission to BA program only. The Vice Chancellor said that for admission to most of the undergraduate courses, students will have to choose at least three subjects from the second part. The second section is divided into two lists B1 and B2. Students have to select the subject in such a way that not more than one subject is selected at a time.

CTET in maximum 6 subjects

Eligibility for admission to most B.Sc programs will be calculated on the basis of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology. For B.Sc programme, it is mandatory to obtain at least 30 percent marks in any one language in CUET. For admission to BA Arts, one has to appear in the test in any one language from the first section and any three subjects from the second section. Merit will be done on the basis of marks obtained in these subjects and language. The Vice Chancellor said that for admission to BA Honors Economics, it is mandatory for the candidates to give a test in Mathematics for CUET. Merit for this will be calculated on the basis of marks obtained in the chosen language, Mathematics and any two subjects. However, a candidate can take the CUET test in a maximum of 6 subjects out of which one must be a language subject.

Admission to non-reserved seats in minority colleges through TET

Admission to non-reserved seats in DU affiliated colleges like St. Stephen’s and Jesus and Mary will be done entirely through CUET. In colleges, in which 50 percent seats have been reserved, 85 percent of the scores for admission will be taken from CUET and the remaining 15 percent will be decided by the interviews by the colleges.

DUET admission to postgraduate courses

Delhi University Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh said that admission in PG courses will be done through DUET (Delhi University Entrance Test) like last year. For this candidates have to register on DU Admission Portal. The registration process will run from April 6 to May 15. DUET will be conducted by the National Testing Agency.

Admission performance test is necessary

Students will have to appear for Common University Entrance Test (CUET) as well as performance test for admission to the Sports and ECA category in the University of Delhi for the academic session 2024-25. Merit will be prepared on the basis of 75% performance score and 25% CUET score. This time the trial for admission in ECA and sports quota is also returning. Trials were not being conducted for two years due to the corona epidemic. Admission of students was done on the basis of certificate only. On the other hand, admission in Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Bachelor of Business Administration, BBA-FIA, BA (Hons) Business Economics (BBE) in Delhi University will also be through CUET only.

Common University Entrance Exam possible in July

The computer-based CUET for admission to the undergraduate program will be held in the first or second week of July in 13 languages. According to a senior NTA official, all the questions asked in CUET will be based on the syllabus of the 12th board exam.

Students who are studying in class 12th this year and if a university will allow students who passed 12th board exam last year to take admission in 2024-25 can also appear in this CUET.

CUET will be conducted in a total of 13 Indian languages ​​apart from Hindi, English. The student can choose his/her preferred language. It will have English including Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Oriya, Punjabi, Hindi. Compulsory paper in CUET will have to be given in any one of these Indian languages. The first paper will be of three and a half hours and two to three hours 45 minutes.

CUET will have three sections. Section A will be based on 13 Indian languages ​​including Hindi, English. It will be compulsory for all the students. There will be 50 questions in this section, out of which 40 have to be answered in 45 minutes. Section 1B will be optional for students studying foreign language or literature.
