A Strong Thesis is supposed to do the Following:

A Strong Thesis Does Not Adhere to the Following:

  • Being Just an Observation: This may be accurate, but the statement is merely a comment on the book; it makes no judgment on how it is handled in the text.
  • Being a Factual Statement: If you’re making a fact-based remark, ask yourself if anyone could rationally disagree with you. If everyone agrees that your statement is correct, it becomes a fact rather than an argument.
  • Being a Broad Generalization: While it may appear that utilizing broad phrases helps you to incorporate more topics in your essay, large issues contain much too many specific points, and making a wide assertion will result in a shallow argument. The more focused category will enable you to concentrate on a single argument and examine its complexity.
  • Being an Illustrations’ List: While your essay may contain examples of all of these concerns, employing a list as a thesis does not allow for a thorough examination of a single topic or the demonstration of relationships between ideas. The items on the list could be points of proof that you can use without naming in your essay.
