LLB stands for Bachelor of Legislative Law. LLB is a 3-5 years undergraduate degree course in the discipline of Law, pursued by students who aspire to make it big in the field of law either after clearing 12th board exams (BA LLB) from recognized board or after completing graduation (LLB) from recognized university. Admission criteria is based on the certain percent score which a student has to attain in his 12th exams or graduation exams. LLB lays the foundation to study law and practice it. After completion of the course, students can either choose the professional side or can also choose to study further with courses like LLM and Ph.D. in Law. Apart from LLB courses, there are various other courses such as BA LLB, B.Sc. LLB, BBA LLB, LLM, etc.

LLB itself is a vast field of study. Students can choose to pursue through various streams such as BA LLB, BBA LLB, B.Sc.LLB, etc. All these streams have different durations, eligibility, selection process, fee structure, and more.
Three year LLB and Five year LLB
Both types have different durations. The three-year LLB course focuses on various aspects of law education as well as the Indian Constitution. The course prepares the students in practicing law or performing as legal advisers in the corporate sectors. The five-year LLB course focuses on basic bachelor-level subjects apart from core law education. In a three-year degree, candidates study the fundamentals of law and the constitution of India. In every semester, aspirants will learn everything which is dedicated to law education. Five-year integrated course and comprises subjects related to the bachelor’s program like BBA, BA, B. Com, etc., along with core law subjects.Three year degree requires minimum 45% aggregate marks in graduation and Five year degree requires minimum 50% aggregate marks in 12th exams. Top colleges for three year course are Chandigarh University, Apex University, Symbiosis Law School, ILS Law School etc. and for five years are GGSIP, Delhi, Jaipur National University, KIIT, Odisha, Alliance University, Amity University etc. The fee structure is almost similar (1-3 Lakh PA) but varies according to Government University or Private University. After a student has pursued graduation in any discipline, he is eligible for the three year LLB course. Initially the age limit was set to 30 years by the Bar Council of India, BIC which is 30-45 years now.It is an integrated five year course, where the aspirant doesn’t need to undergo graduation separately for three years. Upon completion, they are entitled with ‘BA.LLB graduates. The initial age limit was 20 years which is set to 22 years now.
