Eligibility Criteria:

• The candidate must have completed a bachelor’s degree in any field (BA, B.Com, B.Sc, BBA, BCA, B.Tech etc.).
• Minimum marks: With a few exceptions, such as Dibrugarh University, there are no minimum marks in most cases.
• While a mere graduation is usually sufficient, institutes such as IGNOU and the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata require that the applicant study Mathematics as one of their graduate/post-graduate disciplines.
• Again, most institutes have no upper or lower age restrictions. Vallabh Government College in Mandi is an exception.

Admission Process:

Admission to a PGDCA programme is normally determined by the results of a graduation examination, however some institutions, such as the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata, hold a written test or examination to screen applicants. Candidates who pass the exam are invited to an interview before being assigned a seat.

IGNOU, Dibrugarh University in Assam, and the University of Delhi all provide admission to the PGDCA programme based on qualifying test results. Authorities compile a merit list based on qualifying exam results, which is used to assign seats.

When there is an entrance exam, usually just the exam results are taken into account for admission, although there are certain exceptions, such as Sardar Patel University, which considers both graduation and entrance exam results.

Entrance Exams:

The Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications [PGDCA] programme does not have any entrance tests. Admission is provided mostly on the basis of the aspirant’s performance in the graduating programme.
