The journey of a thousand miles starts with one little step. The idea of establishing a Technological University in Konkan region as an instrument of economic development was conceived by the Government of Maharashtra in 1981. As per the recommendations of an Expert Committee, the Government of Maharashtra stablished Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University; vide Act No. XXII of 1989.The University was of the unitary type of University, and the territorial limits within which the powers were conferred upon the University by or under this Act were exercised, comprised the entire University area.
