Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology (SLIET) Longowal has received Deemed to be University status on April 10, 2007 to run various Integrated Certificate and Diploma (ICD), Under Graduate (UG), Post Graduate (PG) and Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph. D.) programmes under an autonomous academic pattern. The Institute follows a semester system (i.e. two semesters in an academic year). Each semester spans eighteen weeks (i.e., 90 days), excluding end-of-semester examinations (ESE). The academic study schemes at each level are balanced with a number of co-curricular activities and the AICTE pattern. To motivate and encourage the students, a counselling system is also in place which involves various faculty members who act as class counsellors under the guidance of the chief counselor. Students are evaluated on a continuous basis through minor examinations, quizzes, assignments, class activities, and end-of-term examinations throughout the semester The medium of instruction is English for all the courses run by the Institute.
