·A minimum of 12 credits, including a course on "Research and Publication Ethics" and research methodology, are required for the Ph.D. program. Additionally, the Research Advisory Committee may suggest UGC-approved online courses for the Ph.D. program's credit requirements.
·During their doctoral period, all Ph.D. students, regardless of their field, will be required to train in teaching, education, pedagogy, and writing related to their chosen Ph.D. subject. Ph.D. students may also be given teaching or research assistantships for 4-6 hours per week to help with lab or tutorial work and evaluations.

Book Reservation
If a particular book is not currently available for borrowing, BWU library users can reserve it. Notifications are sent to the reserver by mail and telephone when that book becomes available. The book is given to the reserver in accordance if the reserver responds to the notifications and specifies a collection day. However, the book is given to the immediate user who requests it next if the reserver does not respond to the notifications.
Preservation
Since books and documents are made of organic materials (derived from plants or animals) that are always deteriorating, their preservation is very important in a library. However, deterioration can be slowed down with proper storage, handling, and care to ensure that the books and documents last for many generations to come and prevent informational content from being lost.
BWU library ensures protection of its documents and books through proper handling as follows:
·The documents are stored in a clean and stable environment and away from any radiators or vents.
·The books are kept in metal shelving which prevent any acid (found in woods) migration into paper and thus prevent deterioration.
·The library and the work environment of the library staff is always kept clean and free from any food or drinks.
·The books are handled with clean, dry hands and same instructions the given to the users.
·The books are made to stand upright on the shelves to minimize wear and tear.
·Oversized books are kept flat so that they are not misshapened.
·While pulling the books off the shelves, it is ensured that they are pulled from the middle of the spine instead of the top.
·Whenever possible, a library staff accompanies a student in finding a book and unloading it from the shelves, so as to ensure proper handling of the books.
·All users are instructed not to lick their fingers while turning the pages of the books.
·Tapes, glues, non-stainless staples, pins, paper clips are avoided to be used as fasteners or book marks and instructions for the same are given to the users.

What is the minimum qualification for admission to a PhD Program?
A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester master’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time. Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. What is the admission procedure?
The admission shall be based on the criteria notified by the institution, keeping in The admission shall be based on the criteria notified by the institution, keeping in view the guidelines/norms in this regard issued by the UGC and other statutory/regulatory bodies concerned, and taking into account the reservation policy of the Central/State Government from time to time.
Admission to the Ph.D. programme shall be made using the following methods:
University may admit students who qualify for fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET/UGC- CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar National level tests based on an interview. And/or
University may admit students through an Entrance Test conducted at the University level. The Entrance Test syllabus shall consist of 50% of research methodology, and 50% shall be subject specific.
Students who have secured 50 % marks in the entrance test are eligible to be called for the interview
A relaxation of 5 % marks will be allowed in the entrance examination for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/differently-abled category, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
University may decide the number of eligible students to be called for an interview based on the number of Ph.D. seats available.
Provided that for the selection of candidates based on the entrance test conducted by the University, a weightage of 70 % for the entrance test and 30 % for the performance in the interview/viva- voce shall be given.

Research topic is conceptualized by the candidate. It can however be modified with the help of the appointed supervisor and Co-supervisor. It is finally approved by the Competent Authority of the University.
Is the preliminary research idea uploaded?
Not necessarily. You are allowed to modify/ improve upon your research idea with the help of your appointed supervisor /Co-supervisor after registering for the PhD program.
Does University provide any Hostel facility to a PhD scholar?
Hostel facility may be offered to full time research scholars subject to availability. Here, preference is given to undergraduate and graduate students.
What is the pattern of classes for full time and part time candidates during the first-year coursework?

How is a supervisor and Co-supervisor decided?
The supervisor and Co-supervisor are decided by the Departmental Research Committee (DRC). The supervisor should be a whole time faculty member of Brainware University.

No, unless the supervisor himself becomes unavailable for certain reasons.
Is a transfer to/ from another University (Including Brainware in another city) possible during the course of PhD program?

Can PhD Scholars apply for Brainware’s fellowship program?
Yes, only Full- Time PhD scholars are eligible to apply for it after their selection to the PhD program. The Brainware university awards Fellowships to brilliant young researchers and scientists. The candidate must have GATE/SET/NET/SLET first class (75%) academic record throughout up to Masters’ degree from recognized Universities.The Brainware Fellowship will be given to only those candidates who are not getting fellowship from any other source and who meet the above eligibility criteria. Decisions regarding Brainware Fellowship award, are made entirely by the management and are not fixed. Duration of the Programme: - As per University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of PH.D.
1] Ph.D. Programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work, and a maximum duration of six (6) years from the date of admission to the Ph.D. programme.
2] A maximum of an additional two years can be given through a process of re-registration as per the Statute/Ordinance of the Higher Educational Institution concerned; provided, however, that the total period for completion of a Ph.D. programme should not exceed eight years from the date of admission in the Ph.D. programme. Provided further that, female Ph.D. scholars and Persons with Disabilities (having more than 40% disability) may be allowed an additional relaxation of two (2) years; however, the total period for completion of a Ph.D. programme in such cases should not exceed ten years from the date of admission in the Ph.D. programme.
3] Female Ph.D. Scholars may be provided Maternity Leave/Child Care Leave for up to 240days in the entire duration of the Ph.D. programme.
